It’s no shocker that TikTok has launched many small businesses and influencers into success in their niche. The viral app has taken the world by storm and although it has become a reliable business tool, it seems to be unreliable when talking about algorithms. We’ve found that TikTok is one of the most reliable apps in terms of strategy though! Woot woot!
Well studying strategies used on TikTok to create my TikTok 101 course (coming soon) I found that the use of strategies was so important to effectively use your time as a contact creator for whatever your niche. These strategies can give us quick templates of how to construct videos 10x quicker to expedite your content creation process. Before we get started, I always remind you guys that: The goal on TikTok is to target effectively and not focus on just going viral.
Strategies:
The Emulate method
The 2 to 1 method
The clip circulation method
9 tag method
The two second method
Click the clip to sound ratio method
The Negative Hook Method
The Emulate Method
This method uses trending audios and Is essentially copying someone else’s text over the video and using it over your own video. This entails copying creators in your niche which can push your video to followers of your niche’s FYP. It is recommended that with the emulate method a 14 day trial happens. This Should be followed by posting two of these forms a Videos a day for the 14 day duration and see if it works!
My thoughts:
Well I think this works very well to start up your engagement and growth I don’t think this is sustainable as a contact creator. After a while viewers or start to notice they can find your same content on others channels and it becomes plain. If you are posting multiple long form videos a day this can also be a great strategy to balance your content.
The 2:1 Method
The 2:1 one method is the ruling for every two trend-based videos, one longform video should follow. This trend can coincide with the emulate method and shows the partnership between short and long form content. While we use trending videos to relate and create viewership, we use longform content to actually show our personality and original ideas. The 2 to 1 ratio is recommended when looking at the viewer’s need for relatability while also obtaining personal connection. When scrolling on someone’s channel using the 2 to 1 ratio you have a balanced amount of content to relate to the viewer while also creating the personal connection.
My thoughts:
While every niche is different I do recommend this strategy for any creators. In the past I have followed certain channels to then sadly find out they are only creating trend videos and then unfollowing due to how unoriginal their content felt. While on the other hand I think only doing longform videos can be hard to get a quick start on growth and works better for content creators with a large base following already.
The clip circulation method
The clip circulation method is essentially reposting your old content. During clip circulation I suggest blurring out the TikTok watermark. This can be done with a variety of apps in the App Store. This prevents flags by tiktok if it’s visible that it’s reposted. This method can be helpful when beginning your TikTok to re-post videos that initially didn’t get traction. If using this method I also recommend having different cover photos and titles because although they are the same video you don’t want them to be viewed as identical from your channel feed .
My thoughts:
I have found this works for content creators to finally start to see their channel growing and want all the videos that did not get any interaction to grow. We know authenticity is very important to the tiktok community in 2023 and I do not think reposting super obviously will appeal to your audience. I definitely recommend using this strategy for old videos that haven’t gotten traction but not overdoing it with videos well known or re-posting tons of old content.
9 tag method
The nine tag method is using nine hashtags in which three are your niche’s “what”, three are your niches “why”, and three are your niches “who”. By doing this it is thought that your hashtags are being used strategically inside your niche covering all three bases. The hashtags using “what” will cover your overall niche, the hashtags using “who” will be who is interested in your niche, and the hashtags with the “why” are essentially the solution to your niche's relevant problem.
The nine tag method has definitely had its moment on TikTok and it’s also been controversial. The reason it’s been controversial has been people believe it is overhyped and some people say it does not work at all. This strategy seems very polarizing but I think I have the answer…
My thoughts:
I find the importance here that hashtags are not that important overall!
I don’t think creators saying that doing this strategy was their only growth method is highly unlikely since hashtags do not have that strong of an effect.. Using SEO and popular key words searched is a way more reliable method.
Two second method
The two second method is when filming a video changing the background or movement in which the scene is slightly different every two seconds. If you are telling a story moving throughout your room every two seconds of the video or every 2 to 4 can help the viewers engagement and interest in what you’re saying. While looking at someone talking in the same position with a text on a screen can easily bore our fast paced techy brains.
My thoughts:
The two second method is less of a strategy and more of a content creation tool yet has been very consistent with its growth technique on TikTok overtime. I have found that the strategy helps a lot since we are having a smaller attention span every day due to technology. I do find that longform videos are definitely necessary though without these cuts to create a more personal authentic connection while talking to the audience.
Clip to sound ratio
Clip to sound ratio strategy is ruling that the longer the video the more clips the video should have. This essentially means you want your video to switch clips the longer the duration is to obtain viewership and attention for the full duration. For an example if your video is 12 seconds you might have six cuts. Or maybe you have a longer form video that’s a minute long with 13 cuts!
My thoughts:
I have found that the strategy works very well. Again longform content is still important to create authenticity but this method is very useful for obtaining a viewer for the contents duration. Another reason this strategy is useful is having a personal connection while talking enthusiastically can be difficult to balance so having cuts can distract from any insecurities you have about your talking rhythms and tone.
The negative hook method
The negative hook method is a strategy of using a negative intrigue instead of a positive one. This can easily engage the viewer due to our interest when hearing some thing we are told to not do rather than that we should do. We find it easier as humans at times to not do things rather than to do things. Content creation isn’t something intensely difficult so advising someone to not do some thing can intrigue them as a easy fix.
My thoughts
I’ve definitely found that negative hooks help a lot, they are such an easy switch from doing a positive hook in which can drastically increase the viewers attention. At the beginning of creating content when I started using negative hooks I found that my views doubled due to saying a negative hook and using a serious tone.
